I am looking for Ham Bone Soup recipes that do not have beans in them, as my husband is picky about beans. No split peas either! I know, it would be easier to get a new husband than cater to his stupid whims but for better for worse you know!!! We like chowder and stew style soups but I am having trouble finding any for ham bones with out the peas/beans.Ham Bone soup recipes w/out beans?

Try using sweet potatoes in the broth and ham bone and then using a food processor or blender break the sweet potatoes into a smooth paste and back into the broth as a thicknening and flavor agent. Ham and sweet pots taste really good together so as long as you use a chicken or veggie broth it should be really tasty.

LEFTOVER HAM AND CORNBREAD CASSEROLE
2 or 3 cups of leftover ham, chopped
2-3 leftover cornbread for topping the casserole
1 small carton sour cream
1 can (don't dilute) cream of mushroom soup
1 package (2 c.) grated cheddar and mozzarella cheese
2 eggs
1 1/2 sticks butter
1 package frozen broccoli in a bag with the three types of cheese
Note: Don't use sweet cornbread mix - use homemade or some kind that is not sweet. Grease Pyrex dish with spray oil. Put ham, soup, and sour cream in the dish (just mix it all in the Pyrex dish).
Whisk the two eggs and add to the ham mixture and blend well. Cook broccoli in bag for 5 minutes in microwave. Poke a few holes in the bag first. Add this to the ham mixture and blend it in well.
Top this with the 2 cups (or an entire bag) of finely shredded cheese. Do NOT mix this in with the ham mixture! It's a cheese layer.
In another bowl, crumble up the leftover cornbread and add the butter.
Cook in the microwave until the butter is melted. Blend the butter into the cornbread until it is moist.
Spread the cornbread/butter over the cheese.
Bake in the oven at 350掳F for about an hour or until the top is brown.
It is so good if it's a bit crispy on top!

I don't have any recipes (in other words, formally written down) for leftover Easter ham, but I do use it all up in various ways.
There's the obvious ham sandwiches, of course. I also like to cut the ham into small cubes (maybe a half-inch per side), and use it in omelets. Also, I'll cut it into larger cubes, or into strips (like thick match sticks) and make a chef's salad out of it. Or you could mince it really fine and use it as part of a stuffing in stuffed peppers or tomatoes.
Pasta with Alfredo sauce and ham, add a veggie like broccoli or frozen peas and a salad on the side.

There are a TON of recipes for all sorts of uses for the left over holiday ham. Must have for anyone who doesn't want ham sandwiches for a week after the holidays!

Chop up the ham into small pieces. Then use in any of these.Casserole, ham, frozen hash browns, cream of mushroom soup.Mix all then pour into dish top with cheeses and bake at 350 for 30 mins.Add to beans and cook til tender.Mix with scrambled eggs and make a burrito.Make a ham salad and eat with crackers..hope this helps.
You could thinly slice the ham and make ham and grilled chese sandwich. Make an omlet, chopped ham in fried potatos, there are all kinds of egg dishes you could put ham in. If you have a ton of ham and want to use up the whole thing, you could make split pea and ham soup:
1 cup chopped onion
1 teaspoon vegetable oil
1 pound dried split peas
1 pound ham bone
salt and pepper to taste
DIRECTIONS
In a medium pot, saute onions in oil or bacon grease. Remove from heat and add split peas, ham bone or chopped ham. Add enough water to cover ingredients, and season with salt and pepper.
Cover, and cook until there are no peas left, just a green liquid, 2 hours. While it is cooking, check to see if water has evaporated. You may need to add more water as the soup continues to cook.
Once the soup is a green liquid remove from heat, and let stand so it will thicken. Once thickened you may need to heat through to serve
We like this. You can make ahead of time and refrigerate or bake right away.
BAKED DENVER SANDWICH
8 slices buttered bread
1/4 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
1 c. ground ham
1/4 c. chopped green pepper
1 tbsp. chopped green onion
3 eggs, lightly beaten
2 c. milk
1/2 tsp. salt
Dash of cayenne pepper
Trim crust from bread. Arrange 4 slices buttered side down in 9 inch
baking dish. Sprinkle with cheese, ham, green pepper, and onion.
Place remaining slices, buttered side up, on top of filling. Beat
eggs with milk, salt, and cayenne pepper. Pour over sandwiches in
pan. Press down each sandwich to blend egg mixture into bread. Bake
at 375 degrees for 35 to 45 minutes until sandwiches feel firm to the
touch and egg mixture is set. Garnish and serve.
************You may cover and refrigerate for up to 8 hours before
baking. I like to saute the ham (I slice it instead of grinding it),
green (or red) peppers, and onion before sprinkling it onto the
bread. Adds another step and about 5-10 prep time, but it's worth
it :-)********************
Dice it up and put in your mac and cheese, or scrambled eggs. Slice thin and put on your grilled cheese. Make some pasta, toss in the diced up ham and add a jar of al fredo sauce.
You could make a Cuban sandwich-
5 or more hoagie rolls if you can find them or something similar, slice them until there is only a little piece of bread keeping it together, add mustard if you like and as much or as little as you want, add some provolone and the top it with ham, then slice some mozzarella and put it on top of the ham and add a few more slices of ham, close the sandwich and you can grill or bake it. But my favorite is split pea soup, chop the ham into cubes, then add into a crock bot or pot of water the split peas. Roughly chop some carrots potatoes and onions, add the ham a little while after the other items are added and you also have to mash the ingredients before you add the ham and make sure it is smooth and creamy but somewhat chunky. Or you could even make an omelette or two for breakfast
This is a simple comfort food from my childhood.
Slice potatoes thinly, I generally use a mandolin, but you can do it with a food processor slicer or a knife. Then layer them in a greased baking dish with the ham, cheese (I like a mixture of swiss and cheddar). Make sure that you season the potatoes with salt and pepper on each layer. It should be like a lasagna. When you are done layering pour some half and half on top. It should almost be to the top of the potatoes, but not quite. Then cover with foil paper and cook on a 350 oven for about 1 hour. Then take off the foil paper and top with a even mixture of bread crumbs and parm cheese. It's rustic, but so good. The key is to make sure that you season each layer of potato with salt and pepper or else it will be bland.
My favorite part about having ham is the leftovers I can use to make things.

Ham Salad- you'll need a meat grinder for this.
Run the han through the grinder. Add sweet pickle relish, or run some sweet pickles through the grinder. Chop hard boiled eggs fine, mix them with the ham and pickles- the proportions are up to you, but keep it mostly ham. Season with pepper, the ham is probably salty enough already, mix with mayonnaise until you've got a spread. Makes a nice sandwich filling.
I grew up with my mom making a casserole of left over ham cut up into small bite size pieces, and incorporating that into her recipe for scalloped potatos. She also added cheddar cheese on top and it was to die for.
Try it and you will love it!
