Got any ham recipes?

I'm fixing a ham tomorrow for my parents, aunts and uncles. Any good ham recipies or side dishes?Got any ham recipes?
take 2 peaces of bred and some ham and some chease and make sandwitches.Got any ham recipes?
if you are baking it. mix honey brown sugar and pineapple juice I use a spiral ham because it looks prettier, make like a mud consistancy and pack it all over the ham cover in foil and every 10 minutes or so bast it last couple minutes of cooking remove foil. I make every year for Christmas and Easter and I have been told it taste better then at the honey baked ham store. Also I present the Ham on a platter with fruit like melons grapes and pineapples mixed with honey around the ham
Don't know if it would help but this one's a real favourite with my family.

I mix 2 teaspoons wholegrain mustard, 2 teaspoons dry herbs (mixed herbs) 1 teaspoon honey, 1 teaspoon pineapple juice 1/2 teaspoon port wine in a cup then brush them over the ham (I cross cross the ham beforehand) then wrap into foil and cook just as you would normally cook it.

I roast postatoes in the oven, brusg parsnips with a little honey and herbs and roast them as well. As for the pineapple slices i dip them in batter and fry them. I serve along with the ham, roast potatoes, roast parsnips, steamed carrots and fresh peas and they all go together really well! As for sauce i use gravy but add a little water from the carrots as well as a little port.

It's really nice that way!
If you are baking a whole ham I would suggest Apricot Honey Ham Glaze. You just spoon the glaze over ham and baste during last 30 minutes of baking time.

INGREDIENTS:

1/2 cup apricot preserves

1/2 cup honey

1 tablespoon cornstarch

3 tablespoons lemon juice

1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

PREPARATION:

Ham glaze directions

Combine all ham glaze ingredients in a saucepan over medium heat. Heat, stirring constantly, until thickened and bubbly. Spoon ham glaze over ham and baste during last 30 minutes of baking.

Makes 1 cup of ham glaze.

Of course ham is excellent any way you make it.

Some side dishes that I enjoy are:

Au Gratin Potatoes

Green Beans

mashed potatoes

corn

Baked Apple Pecan Dressing/Stuffing (http://southernfood.about.com/od/stuffingrecipes/r/bldressing1.htm)
no sorry, i don't eat ham.
Scalloped potatoes with ham and cheddar cheese topping! Bake it so the cheese gets gooey and browned just a bit. Yummmmm.
Bacon, Ham, and Lentil Soup:

With a little bacon and some leftover ham, that bag of lentils in your pantry turns into a hearty, satisfying soup. Leftovers are great, as most legume soups benefit from being made a day ahead so their flavors meld. Substitute green split peas for the lentils, if you prefer; they take less time to cook, so monitor the soup accordingly.

5 slices thick-sliced bacon, cut crosswise into 1/2-inch strips

1 1/2 cups (1/2-inch) cubed ham (about 8 ounces)

1 cup chopped onion

1 cup chopped fennel bulb

1 cup chopped celery

1/2 cup chopped leek

1/2 cup chopped carrot

3 (14-ounce) cans fat-free, less-sodium chicken broth

2 cups water

1 teaspoon chopped fresh or 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme

1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1 cup canned diced tomatoes with basil, garlic, and oregano

1 pound dried lentils

2 bay leaves

1/4 cup chopped fresh chives

Cook bacon in a Dutch oven over medium heat until crisp. Remove from pan, reserving 2 tablespoons drippings in pan; set bacon aside. Add ham to drippings in pan; cook 2 minutes, stirring frequently. Add the onion and the next 4 ingredients (onion through carrot); cover and cook 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add broth and next 6 ingredients (broth through bay leaves). Bring to a boil; cover, reduce heat, and simmer 30 minutes or until lentils are tender. Discard bay leaves; sprinkle with bacon and chives just before serving.

Yield: 8 servings (serving size: 1 3/4 cups)
My personal favorite glaze is sooo simple to make!!

take 1 cup italian dressing (any brand) and add 4 tbsp honey and 4 tbsp bbq sauce... mix it up and add 1/4 cup brown sugar and 2 tsp ground cloves... stir well

glaze your ham with this after it bakes 1/2 way then again at 10 minutes until its done

susan
just eat the ham
Believe it or not, this is a yummy glaze!

Beer Glaze

1 c. brown sugar

3 tbsp. prepared mustard

1/2 c. beer

Mix together brown sugar and mustard, stir to a paste. Gradually add beer, stirring until blended. Brush part of mixture over ham. Continue baking, brushing frequently with remaining mixture

For sides, maybe you will like these:

Wilted Spinach Salad

4 slices bacon

1/2 c. chopped onion

3 tbsp. sugar

1/3 c. vinegar (I actually use raspberry vinaigrette)

1/2 tsp. salt

1/8 tsp. pepper

4 c. (1 lb.) fresh washed spinach leaves, torn in bite size pieces

Cook bacon until crisp in large skillet. Remove, reserving bacon dripping in skillet. Crumble bacon and set aside. Add onion and next four ingredients to drippings, stirring until blended. Cook mixture 10 minutes over medium heat, uncovered, stirring occasionally. Pour over spinach in large bowl. Toss and serve immediately. Serves 4 to 6.

Also, think about proscuitto-wrapped asparagus, lightly sprtized with EVOO and grilled or broiled.

Sorry, I am not certain how ';heavy'; or traditional a meal you are looking for. But I hope this helps. Good luck!
